Completed the Vanessa Christenson pattern for the Zippered Salvage Pouch found here for Bernina.
And I started on the letters for the back of the Wave quilt I am making!! Any guesses as to what the 2 words will be?? Lol
Love the alphabet patterns from Quiet Play.
I also took the first of 2 classes for sewing a dress!! I have never been able to master making cloths for myself, so I am hopeful for a positive outcome!! First class was tracing the pattern and making template for the bodice of the dress. With the help of the instructor I was able to adjust the darts, produce another mock up and than make the adjustments to the pattern. I was than able to cut out my actual dress!!
Lots of great projects! How cute is your selvedge pouch! Love it!
ReplyDeleteYour paper pieced letters are looking fab too! Great fabrics!
Best of luck with the dressmaking. I'm not brave enough to attempt that ;)
Thanks, Kristy!!
DeleteOooh! Your zipper pouch is wonderful! I never save the selvedges... maybe I should! Great job on the muslin! How exciting to be sewing your own dress... I'm going to live vicariously through you as far as that goes! I look forward to more pictures as you progress through the steps!!
ReplyDeleteSorry if this is a repeat answer!! I answer from my phone sometimes, but I'm not sure if it goes through, because it doesn't show here!!
DeleteThanks for the encouragement!! I hope I don't let either of us down!! lol
I love the selvage pouch LOL, I may have to make one of those, but I don't generally save selvages and I have just started saving them to use on a bookshelf quilt as the book titles, so I better keep saving them!
ReplyDeleteI always hated the wasted fabric, so when I saw this project I was so happy!! I had never thought to use them in a project, because I was always told they had to be removed, because they reacted differently than the fabric when washed. Now I enjoy cutting the salvage off and save for projects!!
DeleteOoh, never heard of a book quilt, sounds interesting!! Would love to see a picture, are you on instagram or flickr?
visiting you from Anything Goes link up. I love the selvedge bag it is awesome. I can't wait to see the finished dress.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!! Hope you enjoyed the blog! A little behind this week.
DeleteMy last dress class is tomorrow. If things go really well will post pictures when I get home!! If not hopefully by end of the week!!
Wow you have been busy :) I've just made a dress too for my little girl and have the washi dress in my sights (although not sure I'm brave enough yet). I love the pouches - such a great way to use up all those favourite little pieces.
ReplyDeleteThanks, the pouch was fun and I will be making more!!
DeleteI finished the dress other than the hem, and it went, ok! No one at the quilt shop I took the class was a seamstress, that would have been extremely helpful for learning. Not sure how much wear the dress will see other than around the house, but we'll see! I can be a little hard on myself. So will be asking my daughter, when I hem it, then I will know for sure how I did!! lol
Very busy indeed and great work. Love the exclamation point!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I am having so much fun!! I just finished a boxy pouch, shown in my most recent post, and a few more letters.
DeleteThe selvedge pouch is adorable.
ReplyDeleteThanks it was fun to make!! I love bags and pouches!! just finished a boxy pouch!
DeleteI can not even imagine being able to do that with a dress pattern, bodice, anything really. I have not had much success with actual making clothing. But it sure looks like you are off to a great start, and the zipper pouch is SO CUTE!!!
ReplyDeleteI am stopping by from the WIP hop, hop by if you get a chance! http://domesticdeficitdisorder.blogspot.com/2013/07/wip-wednesday-july-24th-edition.html
Thanks for the encouraging words!! The dress just needs a hem!! I'm not sure I nailed the fitting quite right, but once it is hemmed I'll try it on for my daughter and than I will know for sure!! lol!!
Deleteshe'll be honest! It's a style that could come off as a maternity dress if you get it wrong, and I am pasted that stage!! lol
That should be passed that stage!!
DeleteLove the pouch! I really need to start saving my selvedges!!! These are adorable. Have you seen the dress made out of them?
ReplyDeleteI was so happy when I saw this, because I always thought it was such a waste to throw out!!! Now I'm happy to remove the salvage!!
DeleteNo, really someone made a dress!! I'll have to search for that!!
I love the pouch! Now that I have conquered my fear of zippers I am looking forward to trying some of the really great pouch patterns around!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan of putting in zippers either, but they are fairly easy in pouches!! Thanks for the kind words!!
DeleteVery fun!! May I ask where you are taking the class? It's always fun to see where the classes are being offered. :)
ReplyDeleteI live in Canada! It was a quilt shop in Orangeville, Ont.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Rae! And glad you liked the projects!!
