#25 WIPs

So I've tidied up my hobbyroom...


and I'm happy to say it looks pretty much like the pictures still!! Other than the blocks laying next to my sewing machine waiting to be sewn into another quilt top!!

 I finished the quilt as you go String Block quilt! I realized when I was starting to line up the blocks to lay them out, that there was no way to layout the front and know what was going to happen with the back of this quilt. So I literally tossed the blocks in the air and picked them up randomly from the floor into a pile and than began sewing the blocks together! Turned out fantastic!!!



I put the borders on the Craftsy BOM 2012 quilt! I ended up adding the brown (basic gray, grunge) border in and like it!! At first I was adding it because I had run out of the white background and couldn't find anymore, and was going to have to change whites, but by a fluke I came across some in a quilt shop. I decided to add it anyway because I didn't think there would be quite enough white, and it all worked out!!
 I made another wallet. This time I used upholstery fabric for the outer shell, and added the inset piece of fabric.







And completed block 15 in the Virtual Quilting Bee


and I know I keep saying next week, but this time I mean it!!! Next week this one( should ) will  be done and ready for its Post!!

 and Day #22 in the photo a day challenge is nature.....last of the flowers as fall hits us...

I think there is a life lesson in this picture...even in hard conditions when you think nothing could grow or be beautiful... there is strength and beauty!!!

      Thanks Jess!! lol I was thinking of an online friend when I did it!! She doesn't feel confident in picking a scrappy layout. I figured when there is this much going on sometimes everything and anything will work!!

    The string quilt is gorgeous, front and back! So much work done, now I understand exactly what you meant by not having time for the Molli Sparkles Broken Herringbone QAL! LOL Lovely work, as always! I also enjoy seeing more pictures of your crafting space. It's simply beautiful!

      Broken Herringbone blocks are all fantastic, can not wait to see the quilt!! I love my sewing space too, I am very blessed!!

      Thanks Quiltswithpersonality!! Love your user name!! It was so much fun to make!! I plan on making another one, scraps seem to grow!! This time I think I will do foundation piecing though and than quilt it!

    Looking good girl! You are totally reminding me I am behind on my VQB blocks and that one looks tough! So how was putting the string quilt together??? crazy? It looks perfect! I imagine it being harder than it is I think. Really want to try this, seems nice to work on bits at a time and have it quilted when done.

      Thanks Paula! The string quilt is really easy, but far from perfect!! lol The only thing I struggled with is when you start putting the rows together and it grows. It gets really bulky in the throat of the sewing machine. What I didn't pay attention to was as much as I should was lining up the sashings from row to row, so some of them are off. But I love it anyway!! I still have so many scraps so I intend to make another one with 10-12" blocks and foundation piecing, and will than quilt with the long arm. I don't know how you guys manage to quilt so beautifully on a regular sewing machine?!!! More talented than me!!

    The string quilt is gorgeous, front and back! But you made a lot of beautiful things. I do not understand how you can keep your hobby room that way!

      My hobbyroom is not always this neat, but I do prefer it that way, just so I can find everything!! I was really happy with the way the string block quilt turned out too, thank you!!

      its a great way to use up scraps of batting and strips of fabric!! Although I think my scrap strips multiplied while I was making the quilt!! I need to do another one!! There is a link to the tutorial I watched for quilt as you go, you can find it on post #9 on my blog.

      Thanks Deb! It isn't always this clean, but I try, I loose all my tools etc in clutter!! lol which is so frustrating!!
      This was my first quilt as you go, I learned a lot. I have done one string block in the Craftsy BOM 2012 Sampler and loved it!!

      Thanks Kelly!! I love your work too!! You are always finishing and I seem to have a lot on the go and not so much finishing!! lol But I have the baby one on the frame and the Craftsy BOM 2012 bordered just need to figure out backing, and the bloom bloom pow ready to border.... so eventually I will have a mess of quilts!!!! hip hip hurray!!!
