It's time for block 2....but before we start.....Let's announce our winner......drum roll....
#4 Sharon Schutt
please email me your mailing info Sharon, and congratulations!!!
Have fun creating something special
with this lovely FQ Bundle of Soft Dreams from P&B Textiles!
Now onto November....
I'm excited about this one!! I've made two projects so far in different layouts, both I'm turning into Christmas Tree Skirts, one is even quilted and bound. If last month was all about geese, this month is all about HST ~ half square triangles ~ I think one of the most versatile blocks to use!!
This months give away is sponsored by
I took 10" squares and turned them into 5" charms! 40 to 160 in a few easy cuts....I always look at the cost of 4 charms to one layer cake and buy the cheaper option. Saved money means more fabric, lol
To a fantastic Christmas Tree Skirt
Pattern for Christmas Blessings can be found here
(HST Tutorial)
Draw a line diagonal from corner to corner on the
lightest block of your pairs. With this Omnigrid ruler you place the centre line on each diagonal corner and trace a line down both sides of the ruler.
Place your pairs right sides together
Stitch on both lines or a 1/4" from both sides of your centre line
Cut down the centre of both sewn line, lining the ruler up with both diagonal corners.
I have a Quilt in a Day half square triangle ruler, so I line up my stitch line with the 4.5" line and trim
If you trim with a square ruler, press your block open first, I press my seams open, and then lining up your diagonal seam trim to 4.5"
Hope you are all inspired and ready to take on this months block. Can't wait to see what you all come up with. Don't forget to use #OneBlockWonders2015

Thank you for this tutorial. We still use our original tree skirt, because it has become a cozy memory one, but maybe it is time to retire it. Love your pattern of tree skirt and fabric used. Beautiful!
ReplyDelete*Happy Dance*!!!! I'm so excited to have won the Soft Dreams Bundle! It is such a pretty collection. Thank you so much for hosting this BOM and also for finding fun give-aways too! And, thanks for this great tut! I have been using a white embroidery round tablecloth for years under our Christmas tree, and each year I promise myself to MAKE one, that has not happened yet! ;-)
ReplyDeleteMy sister is wanting a new tree skirt. Thanks for the timely tutorial.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Sharon. This is a great looking block. I belong to a coffee group, we meet the last Wednesday of each month. Heather has been hosting this group for the past three years and I think it is time to make her a nice Xmas thank you. P.S. I love batiks.
ReplyDeleteI'm just getting back to reading replies to Sandy's post. Thanks, Ioleen! The fabrics have arrived, I just need to find the perfect idea for them!
DeleteCongrats Sharon.Any layout is just beautiful and love your fabric combo!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rosa!
DeleteSharon, congrats, your layout was gorgeous. The November month, I will have to find something else, as we don't do a tree any more, but I have 2 small tables asking for something different.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nancy! For November I did another table topper. I just didn't have enough time to construct Sandy's lovely tree skirt.
DeleteSandy! Thanks again for your tutorials and hosting this BOM. I really do have to put your tree skirt on my 2016 to-do list of all things quilty. Yours is so pretty.
