March's One Block Wonders BOM Link up

Well it was a late starting month, but I hope everyone had a chance to at least sew one block.....
It was a pretty easy block, so hopefully that helped.....

I had such a great time making mine out of the Basically Patrick and Cotton Supreme Solids
lines from  RJR Fabrics
It turned out so bright and fun, and I just love how the black and white borders makes it all come together.

Getting Personal

I don't often write personal posts....but I have such great news to share that I thought I had to.......

My daughter Amanda and her husband Ryley just gave us the happiest of news...

I'm going to be a Grandma.

I am so excited and as you can see, I've been preparing! lol

And Amanda loves the quilt and Zebraz wall hanging so much the baby's room is going to be themed around Elephants!! (cue big smile on this Grandma's face!!)

Their will be more sewing.....lol

I have already purchased.....
Ellie

and downloaded this free pattern from Birch Fabrics

and I think I may need to get this from BubbleBrick (a Canadian company!!)

they have some super cute custom wood buttons, tags, and signs(and more).
This is a baby shower guest book idea....how absolutely adorable is this!! I'm thinking for the wall in the baby's room with family/friends writing something to the newest member of our family.

Well that's my news, come sometime in October their will be a new love in my life, and I will have a new name....lol

Any suggestions? or do you just kick it old school with Grandma....

UpStairsHobbyRoom Designs

First I wanted to say thanks to everyone who reached out with their lovely comments! I appreciate you not holding my open moment against me!! It felt good to be real, and it helped me work through how I was feeling.....enough said!

I realize I have been very lacks in my post lately. Trying to get ahead with the One Block Wonders BOM and starting out on new adventures all at the same time, has caused a blogging short fall,
and a few collaborations with The Quilting Bee in Fonthill Ontario have changed my creative course for sure!! (This is also where I purchased my Innova Long Arm! More about that in another post)
I was sent some Free Spirit Fabric and asked to design quilts that would compliment the fabrics. I came up with 2 patterns and  I know I shared them over on IG, and thought I had shared here too, but.....I'm either really behind.....or very forgetful....

The first quilt I designed was with Tula Pinks' Eden line. I'm calling this one Bliss Medallion. The pattern comes with instructions for 2 sizes. This is the 51.5" and the larger one below is 69.5" square

Then I sent it back and Kelly quilted it. It is just stunning. The quilt should be at Quilt Canada in June.

The next project was designed around the Leaf Dance line: I am calling this pattern Cross My Heart
Can't wait to see how Kelly quilts this one. It has some great negative spaces to fill!! It also should be at Quilt Canada.
This is just one of many ways to lay out your blocks!! I love both of these patterns and their potential for change, with colour and fabric choices and/or block placement!!

Since going down the design "rabbit hole" (wonderland) I have also opened up a Craftsy Pattern Shop where I have started to sell my patterns. (you can always link from my blog, either with the Craftsy button in the sidebar or the Craftsy Shop tab at the top of my blog) This is a very new adventure for me,  a little scary and a lot of work, but so creatively rewarding, so for now Craftsy is the only locate to purchase. If my little business takes flight and enough customers need a different location to purchase I'll look into more options, but for a start up business, this was a very good option!!

Also all of the One Block Wonders BOM blocks will become full patterns and all will be published over in my Craftsty Shop, and I am happy and surprised to say, all the full patterns right up to March's are all listed and ready for purchase.

Thanks to all who have already purchase my patterns. Would love to hear feedback,  and can't wait to see your finished projects! Also if you would take the time to link your finished projects to the patterns in Craftsy, your work will inspire others and I would love to see all the different ways my patterns come to life!!!

Have a great day, and Happy Sewing!!

Crocheted Lacy Cowl

Many of you will know from my IG account that my SIL got her hands on some donated yarn and I started making 1898 Hats. I will be donating all the items I make to Sew on Fire Ministries, you can follow the link to find out more if you are interested.
After making 8 of the hats I needed to make something else. I still may make more, its a great pattern, but I needed to take a break. So I started making some cowls. This first one is made by making 3 strips with double crochets and braiding them and sewing the ends together to join in a round. I made this one a single, but if you wanted to be able to loop it just make your lengths longer.

Then I started improvising and came you with this lovely lacy pattern. I am working on writing it up right now into a pattern. I love how it turned out and have had a few people inquire about a pattern over on IG. So will post soon!! You can find the pattern here in my Craftsy Pattern Shop

Lacy Cowl

Have a great week everyone!!

March block will be posted next Friday, March 11th.
