A Great Cause Knows No Borders....

Have you heard that Canada will be celebrating its 150th Birthday this coming year?
Which is pretty amazing on its own....but
is turning our celebration into a great way to give back....

Working to make the birthday celebration into Canada's biggest Quilting Bee!!
From Jun 14-17, 2017 at Quilt Canada there will be an army of volunteers sewing and quilting....

The goal is to donate 1,000 quilts to Ronald McDonald Houses all across Canada,

So I am partnering with Rita from

To host an online Quilting Bee Hive along with other Canadian Bloggers....
hoping you will join us in making some blocks to donate
or getting your other quilty friends or guilds involve to make a whole quilt top!

How Can you help?
The slab blocks are to be made using at least one piece of the With Glowing Hearts fabrics, Discover Canada, Stonehenge 'OH CANADA or Cantik Batiks along with coordinating fabrics from you stash....

Rita has the With Glowing Hearts fabric line for sale here
and you can find the instructions here
for the block construction and how to make a quilt top, and how to choose your fabrics!
(If you have Sunday Morning Quilts by Cheryl Arkison & Amanda Nyberg, you will find the block instructions in there too!!)

You Don't have to be Canadian, Eh
Just willing to sew and post your blocks!!

Rita will be supplying me with the Glowing Hearts Fabric that I will need to go along with my stash  for helping her spread the word and promoting her online shop....

I will be hosting a link up at the end of each month from now till February so you can show off your blocks.
The Link ups will end in February with a Giveaway sponsored by Fabric Please for all those who have linked up their blocks or quilt tops!!

Mail your unfinished quilt tops and/or slab blocks to:

Last day to mail is May 30, 2017

I can't think of a better way to celebrate any special occasion then to know how blessed you are and give back to those who maybe going through the roughest patch of their lives.
I have seen the good that Ronald McDonald House does, when friends of ours gave birth to a very sick child. To be able to in some way give back now for all the support our friends received is extremely gratifying!!

I hope you will join me!!

And grab my button while you are here, it will link you to the page I have set up for all the upcoming info and link ups!

  1. What a wonderful way to celebrate! Way to go, my northern Neighbors, in helping others while celebrating your Nation's Birthday! (btw, the "instructions here" link isn't working for me)

  2. So glad you are hosting for this special cause. Just wondering - does it have to be this particular pattern, or can it be other 12 1/2" log cabin type blocks? This will be fun!

  3. I was looking to make a quilt for charity this year and I think Ronald McDonald house is a great idea.

  4. I have some of the Stonehenge fabrics left over from quilts (throws) so will make some slabs... However, my paranoid anti-virus won't let me open your PDF file. Can you send it to me in a FB PM please?
