#81 Sew My Stash Continues..... Challenge..... PreCuts

I linked up to the Sew My Stash 2015 Challenge. Why? Like my WIP list (too long, too big, too....), my stash is on overdrive too. Lol!!

I bought all this fabric to use, to make lovely things to share and gift to those I love, and some I don't even know, so why is it sitting there, looking pretty, but not fulfilling its purpose......

So I joined in with the Sew My Stash 2015 Project.....and I am so glad I did! I am having a blast, using my fabric and it feels great when I can hashtag a picture on instagram with #sewmystash2015 and know that I am using some long forgotten purchase. The challenges have been great too, they give you inspiration and an area to focus on, and this time the challenge is using your precuts.

Inspiration hit for me when I started following the AccuQuilt Blog Hop, and found a project by Blue Ribbon Designs called In an Afternoon Organizer. She was demoing the 10" die cutter, and I thought, homemade precut....so as I tend to do I tweaked it a bit and this is what I came up with. (Follow link above to pattern) My tweaking made it take a bit longer, but still done in an afternoon, ;)

I used 5 stash jelly roll strips sewn together to cut the main front piece and used the leftovers from that to make the 3 pockets (along with some extra jelly roll strips to finish them and make 3 more ). I also used 6 layer cake squares (homemade) to help finish the pockets (lining) and cut one backing piece from yardage, binding 2 more jelly roll strips. Everything was from my stash, including the batting from my scrap bin!!

and a little whimsy and a pop of colour and pattern, just because it makes me smile....

I just need to make a trip to the hardware store, for the hanging supplies,  and this project will be on my wall!!
