Getting Personal

I don't often write personal posts....but I have such great news to share that I thought I had to.......

Elephant Parade pattern by Sew Fresh Quilts

My daughter Amanda and her husband Ryley just gave us the happiest of news...

I'm going to be a Grandma.

I am so excited and as you can see, I've been preparing! lol

And Amanda loves the quilt and Zebraz wall hanging so much the baby's room is going to be themed around Elephants!! (cue big smile on this Grandma's face!!)

Their will be more sewing.....lol

I have already purchased.....
Ellie

and downloaded this free pattern from Birch Fabrics

and I think I may need to get this from BubbleBrick (a Canadian company!!)

they have some super cute custom wood buttons, tags, and signs(and more).
This is a baby shower guest book idea....how absolutely adorable is this!! I'm thinking for the wall in the baby's room with family/friends writing something to the newest member of our family.

Well that's my news, come sometime in October their will be a new love in my life, and I will have a new name....lol

Any suggestions? or do you just kick it old school with Grandma....

  3. How exciting. Congratulations to all. I am "Gran" to our 3 little ones. My mother has always been Grandma and their other Grandmother is Nana, so wanted something different. My husband is Grandpa for the same reason.

Wonderful news. I don't know if this is your first or not, but each one is special and a blessing. Love the elephant theme. It made me smile because we moved to Tuscaloosa, AL almost 3 years ago where the University of Alabama is, and we see lots of elephants around here. Our oldest granddaughter is a junior here, so I am making her a red and white elephant on a grey background wall quilt for her birthday which is next week. Guess I need to get off the computer and do some more sewing:)

  8. I have three children but only my youngest has given me grandchildren and she did so late in life, but what a gift, three grandchildren all at once! The trips turn 5 this July. The call me grandma and literally shout it out at airports and other meeting places - they have a "grandma carol" as well. I think that it is best to let the child finally decide what they want to call you - it is their comfort zone that is needed. Congrats, you will have such joy.

  14. Congratulations! You will love being a grandma. I'm making Elephant Parade for my niece who is having her first baby in July. Have you seen the book Elmer by David McKee? Elmer is a patchwork elephant.

  15. Yay Sandy!! So happy for you. Your daughter is so lucky to have such a wonderful and creative mom. I know you will be smitten with your new grand baby! I just love being a 'Gi Gi'. Someone told me one day that their mom thought she was too young to be a grandma so she went with Gigi for 'gorgeous grandma'!! I thought that was the ticket for me so I am Gigi to 5 wonderful Grandchildren so far. You will probably hear a name that you fall in love with. The traditional 'grandma' is wonderful too! Sooo happy for you!
